About Iron & Fire

Our story, Our coffee, Our mission

More than simply ‘another coffee roaster’

Iron & Fire has been built on a lifelong passion for all-things coffee. Following a substantial career in engineering and a decade spent in Melbourne where great coffee is a way of life, founder Kevin Burrows spent two years of vigorous experimentation focused on combining standard air roasting with a halogen energy input to allow for variable energy levels.  Kevin also worked with a specialist high end roaster manufacturer to develop customisation, modifying the technology to meet his bespoke specifications.

Science behind the bean

The very fine tuning that this roaster allows Kevin and the Iron & Fire team to do, means there’s a level of flexibility to bring out every nuance and unique flavour profile of each bean – depending on where the bean is grown and under what conditions, the Iron & Fire team gets the very best out of every one.

Responsibility, fairness & innovation

As a rapidly expanding business, Iron & Fire is committed to grow with the same core company values it uses in its roasting process: responsibility, fairness, and innovation. These values are central to everything the company does from how it sources its beans, through to its approach to employment, staff development and the support of young people into the workplace. And finally to the experience of the end customer.

Supporting our customers

A significant focus for the Iron & Fire team is in supporting the businesses that it supplies with coffee, with a comprehensive business support structure. Its end-to-end service starts, for those new to the coffee shop business, with support on the correct layout of equipment, and goes on to cover pricing and staffing levels, all with the aim of helping those new businesses to optimise their profits.

A long term view

Taking a long-term partnership approach, Iron & Fire provides its customers with on-going training and development support, guidance on the installation, maintenance and servicing of coffee machines, and dedicated support from a SCA-qualified account manager – not to mention, of course, the all-important supply of great coffee!

Our mission to bring a more exciting and rewarding coffee experience to UK coffee drinkers whilst supporting those at the heart of the industry. In 2012, Kev made it his goal to bring something new to the table for coffee lovers in a way that aligns with his own values and now with a full team of experts, Iron and Fire has a range of perfectly roasted/crafted coffees, carefully sourced from across the globe. This is coupled with not only barista training but also an established engineering department to allow for the provision and maintenance of coffee related equipment to the UK hospitality industry.
